Advice

Installation & care

General guidance. For a specific project follow the manufacturer’s instructions and your installer’s experience — we are happy to advise on your subfloor.

Before installation

  • Flooring goes in last: plaster, screed and paint are finished and dry, windows are in.
  • Bring the packs into the room 48–72 hours ahead and keep them closed so the boards adjust to temperature and humidity.
  • Room at 18–25 °C and 40–60% humidity.
  • Cutting allowance: usually 5–7% for straight laying, 10–15% for diagonal or herringbone. The site calculator adds it for you.

Subfloor

  • Flat: no more than 2 mm deviation over 2 m.
  • Dry: cement screed usually no more than 2.0% moisture (CM method), anhydrite no more than 0.5%. New screed takes weeks to dry — check with a moisture meter.
  • Sound and clean: no dust, cracks or loose areas.
  • Timber subfloor — moisture-resistant plywood fixed so it does not creak.

Click — floating installation

  • Boards lock together without glue; the floor “floats” on an underlay.
  • On concrete — 0.2 mm vapour barrier film with overlaps, then a dense 2–3 mm underlay.
  • 10–15 mm gap at walls, pipes, columns and thresholds so the floor can expand. The skirting covers the gap and is fixed to the wall, not the floor.
  • Expansion profiles (T-profile, threshold) in doorways and on large areas.

Tongue and groove (T&G) — glued

  • Use an MS-polymer (silane) or polyurethane parquet adhesive. Do not use water-based dispersion adhesives.
  • Typical consumption 0.8–1.2 kg/m², trowel as per the adhesive instructions.
  • Also a 10–15 mm gap at the walls.

The factory does not sell adhesive — it is bought from local suppliers. We can tell you what to look for in the specification.

Underfloor heating

  • Water-based heating: floor surface no warmer than 27 °C; first start-up gradually, 1–2 °C per day.
  • Electric — only if the instructions for the specific model allow it.
  • We confirm underfloor heating compatibility for each model before you order.

Care

  • A mat at the entrance — sand scratches any finish.
  • Felt pads under furniture legs, soft castors on chairs.
  • Dry cleaning — soft brush or vacuum.
  • Wet cleaning — a well-wrung cloth and a cleaner for lacquered floors. No steam mops, abrasives or puddles.
  • Wipe up spills straight away.
  • Keep humidity at 40–60% when the heating is on — fewer gaps between boards.
  • Heavy curtains on the sunny side — natural materials change colour in direct sun.
